My name is Dennis Tan, I’m a stock broker. I started doing pilates September of last year. The main reason I started was because around 2023/2024, I had a series of falls. My balance was off. I was resistant to the idea at first, its mainly because I always considered myself athletic. Pilates in my mind was a little soft. But then, the journey has been good. I improved a lot; my core, my stability, my balance. The frustrating thing is you realize how weak you actually are. If you were to ask me my journey is… I’m just at the start, I have a long way to go. I’ve been trying to get the men in our barkada to try Pilates. It’s more of because, as you age, you really need it. There’s really a science to it. In fact, I’ve been using or working on muscles that I never knew existed. Personally, I don’t have the same problems I used to have; especially in terms of balance. And I think that is the most important thing. All Core Pilates to me is my second wind. I think I’ve benefited a lot from it the past year. Hopefully, it will help me enjoy life longer. But I have to stress, it’s a journey. Hopefully, not going to end until I’m really old.
